Tesla launch new longer range Model 3

Now on sale Tesla offer a model 3 rear wheel drive with the larger battery pack that will get you 436 miles. The cars sits between the base RWD and the AWD long range model and costs £44,990, half way between the two other models.

We don’t know if the battery is larger as Tesla don’t bother such trivial information. They do though impart that the efficiency of the new car is improved and should provide 4.97miles per kWh. This is twice what most other EVs offer. The last BMW we drove, the rather nice i4 showed 3.7 m/ kWh.

The rest of the car is as the standard Model 3, with all the connectivity and cabin trimmings launched in the update last year. That includes the acoustic glass, improved suspension and seals, and upgraded dampening. As well as an extensive package for infotainment, there’s ventilated front seats and heated seats for the first and second rows, too.

The Model 3 lineup now comprises the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive model at £39,990 with 318-miles of range, the new Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive at £44,990 with a 436-mile range, the Long Range All-Wheel Drive car at £44,990 that will go 390 miles and the Performance All-Wheel Drive car at £59,990 with a 328-mile range and 0-60mph time of 2.9 seconds.

Deliveries in UK commence in November with PCH costs starting at just £349/ month.
