Modified Ferrari F40 Sits Pretty With Gtechniq At SEMA

It’s not often that you come across a genuine Ferrari F40, let alone a modified one. But this green example at SEMA was entirely worth the wait.

There are some cars which seem untouchable. Cars which have reputations that elevate them to a status beyond the point that many people are willing to modify them. For a very long time, the Ferrari F40 was one of those cars. Arguably, it’s still seen as one of the best Ferraris of all time. But in the past few years, a handful of purist-baiting modified examples have crept out of the woodwork. In fairness, they’re almost always tweaked with a great deal of taste, and this one is no exception to that rule.

We’re used to seeing F40s in red but this Inozetek Super Gloss Era Green works a treat. Fortunately, the wrap is protected by Gtechniq Halo V2 ceramic coating, while the wheels and calipers have got Gtechniq C5 on their side. So, if there happens to be another minor fence incident once SEMA is over this year, at least there’s plenty to protect the paintwork that lies beneath.

To the untrained eye, it might be easy to think that there’s nothing more than a color swap going on here. But that’d be doing this build a disservice. For a start, those 18-inch BBS LM Motorsport rims aren’t standard, and neither are the Toyo R888R tires. They slot perfectly into the arches thanks to some KW V3 suspension, complete with a HLS lift system.

At the back of the car, the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine has been rebuilt by FAI. A Boden Autohaus titanium exhaust then helps the car to breathe and sing even better than before.
