When it comes to brakes and pads, your style of build has a huge influence on what sort of system you’ll need. The reason being is that brakes have to make compromises depending on whether they’re designed for the street or the race circuit. Brakes for road cars need to warm up to optimal operating range quickly, and not be too noisy or create too much dust. However, if you’re on the track, the only thing that matters is performance, and none of those other factors that make street brakes user-friendly.

To put it simply, if you’ve got a track-only car, you can get away with running track-only brakes. And if you can, you should – the performance benefits are seriously worthwhile!

Naturally, many people turn to Brembo when they need a brake upgrade. After all, Brembo is *the* brake company. Sure, there are plenty of other brands out there, but none of them offer the same level of prestige (and arguably, quality). So, we figured we’d check out what Brembo’s track-only line-up was like…

Brembo Pista caliper design

Calipers are a hugely important yet sometimes overlooked element of a car’s braking system. Brembo Pista calipers utilize a forged asymmetric body with a fixed tangential bridge, which closely resembles the structure which Brembo uses in its top level racing systems. Meanwhile, internal brake fluid ducting maintains maximum pressure, results in a sleek design, and guarantees that the system is efficient to bleed.

The Pista| FF family of calipers makes its debut with a 6-piston (FF6) and a 4-piston (FF4) variant.  You can purchase them as either a full big brake kit, or on their own if you’re building a custom system.

Brembo Pista rotors

As for the rotors, Brembo’s Pista package can be specified with a selection of its high-end offerings, including carbon ceramics, as well as the TY3 and TY5 slotted designs.

How much do these cost?

The Pista FF4 caliper (body only) is the cheapest option, priced from £670.96 + VAT per caliper, whereas Pista FF6 calipers demand at least £753.68 + VAT per caliper.

Alternatively, you can bull full Brembo Pista brake kits from £3043.48 + VAT. For more information contact Bremsen Technik Motorsport.
