The iconic Goodwood motor circuit venue will play host to a brand new event in 2024, celebrating the very best Japanese classic cars. Japfest Classic launches on Sunday 6th October, 2024, a sister show to the main edition that returns to Silverstone on Sunday 7th April.

While the circuit itself will not be open on the Sunday due to local noise rules, the historic site that also plays host to iconic events such as the Goodwood Revival, Retro Rides Gathering and Players Classic, will feature well over 1000 Japanese classics of all shapes and sizes, standard and modified.

It’s a great year to be launching a Japanese classic car show, as there are a few key anniversaries. It’s 40 years of the Mk1 Toyota MR2, 35 years of the original Mazda MX-5 and 25 years of the Honda S2000, to name but three.

We’ll of course be having a stand at the event, and we’ll be selecting some of the finest modified Japanese classic cars to join us. If you want a little sneak peak as to what you can expect to see, have a watch of this video on a Datsun 280Z we featured a little while ago…

2024 Car Events From Kelsey Media

Japfest Classic joins a series of events running in 2024 by Kelsey Media, who also publish Fast Car. The 2024 show season kicks off on the 16/17 March with VolksWorld at Sandown Park, in Esher, Surrey. It’s been running for over 30 years and, for the first time in its history, the event will be welcoming retro, water-cooled VWs and Porsches as part of a Sunday-only celebration. While this move has not gone unnoticed by some air-cooled purists, with the backing of Performance VW and Classic Porsche magazines, the quality of cars on show in 2024 is set to be incredibly high. More information can be found at www.volksworldshow.com.

Following on from VolksWorld Show will be the Classic Ford Show, at Ardingly, South of England Showground, on Sunday 12th May. The Blue Oval event returns to the West Sussex venue for the third year in a row, having established itself as a great gathering of the very best old Fords, curated by Editor of Classic Ford magazine, Simon Woolley. Big on the agenda in 2024 will be marking the 55th anniversary of the legendary Capri.

We’re not done with the celebrations of all things Ford, either. The iconic Silverstone circuit plays host to Ford Fair on Sunday 11th August, while coming back for the first time in six years will be Ford Fest at Mallory Park on Sunday 22nd September. The beautiful Leicestershire circuit will be featuring Fords of all ages, with some excellent live track action thrown in for good measure.

Return of Trax

Before Ford Fair, though, we have the return of Trax on Sunday 1st September at Silverstone. 2023 saw Trax play a smaller role at the inaugural German Car Festival. And due to popular demand, it’s back to celebrate all modified cars, no matter than make and model! Drift Kings will once again be wowing the crowds with displays throughout the day and you’ll also get a chance to purchase track time to take your vehicle around the circuit.

The season wraps up for the weekend of 5/6 October with the German Car Festival and Japfest Classic, both at Goodwood. For more information visit https://events.fastcar.co.uk/ or you can email us at shows@kelsey.co.uk.
