If you love fast, smoky drifting, then Ashley Goodlad is a name to watch at Japfest’s Drift Kings competition this year. Competing in his Toyota Chaser JZX100 Mark II, Ashley is set to take on Silverstone with high-speed entries and aggressive driving on April 13th. With experience drifting in the UK and USA and a passion for pushing the limits, he’s coming in hot for 2025’s Japfest Drift Kings showdown.

What got you into drifting?

Ashley’s journey into drifting started with a simple passion for cars. That love quickly evolved into a full blown addiction to the art of controlled chaos on track.

What was your first drift car?

Ashley started out with a Nissan Skyline R33, a legendary platform with plenty of potential for a budding drifter.

What’s the best piece of advice you’d give someone wanting to drift for the first time?

“Start with something cheap.” Drifting doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby, and you don’t need a six figure competition spec car to get started. A simple, reliable car with basic mods is more than enough to learn the fundamentals. Focus on seat time, learn from others and enjoy the process rather than chasing big power or flashy upgrades too soon.

What’s your dream circuit to drift on?

Laguna Seca. Known for its legendary Corkscrew, a blind downhill chicane with a brutal elevation drop, it’s a circuit that would make for some truly spectacular drifting. Just imagine the sight of a sideways Chaser diving into that iconic section, tyres screaming, with smoke billowing into the California sky.

With an unlimited budget, what car would you build for drifting?

A C8 Corvette. Picture this: A sleek mid engined monster reworked for drifting with a fully locked diff, huge angle kit and a screaming high revving V8 throwing flames out of its titanium exhaust. The aggressive aero would make it look straight out of a video game while the twin turbo setup would push power figures well past the four digit mark. Loud, fast and completely unhinged, the perfect drift weapon.

What’s your biggest accolade or best experience in drifting so far?

Ashley has had the incredible opportunity to drift at several tracks across the USA, an experience that many drifters dream of. Competing overseas has given him the chance to test his skills against some of the best, making him more than ready for Drift Kings 2025.

What’s your biggest accolade or best experience in drifting so far?

“Fast, smoky drifting.” Ashley isn’t here to play it safe; expect high speed, tyre shredding action that will keep the crowds on their feet.

Japfest 2025 is shaping up to be an unmissable event, with Drift Kings set to deliver some of the most intense battles of the year. Will Ashley Goodlad put his JZX100 on the podium? There’s only one way to find out; be at Silverstone on April 13th!
