The Duramax diesel engine, commonly found in Chevy and GMC full-size trucks made by General Motors, is generally reliable. However, some generations of the engine had more problems than others. If you own a truck with one of the more problematic engines, you may find yourself looking for diesel truck parts to make replacements.

The LB7 Duramax was one of the strongest Duramax diesels, but it still had problems. You may find yourself replacing diesel parts in this engine such as the water pump and original factory injectors.

The LLY Duramax engine was only produced for a short time. It had quite a few problems, and you’re likely to replace Duramax parts here such as the water pump, glow plugs, head gasket, and EGR valve.

The LBZ Duramax engine is generally accepted as the best Duramax diesel ever. It didn’t have many problems, but many owners chose to add Duramax performance parts to this engine to make it better. One such part is a lift pump, which wasn’t included as a factory part.

The newer LMM, LML, and L5P Duramax engines mainly have issues with pistons and the fuel system. The LML engine, in particular, is prone to catastrophic fuel pump failure, which requires an entire fuel system kit of Duramax diesel parts to fix.

Heavy Duty Upgraded 304SS Up-Pipes + Gaskets for 2001-2004 LB7 Duramax

This is both an upgrade and a replacement part for the LB7 Duramax. It is a bolt-on replacement to factory manifolds, but it significantly reduces exhaust back pressure and gives roughly 50% more flow over stock up-pipes. Installing the up-pipes also yields faster turbo response and lower exhaust temperatures.

Complete Top End Cylinder Head Gasket / Studs Service Kit for 2004.5-2007 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LLY LBZ

You can use this service kit to replace the relevant parts and head gasket for the LLY Duramax, which is known for this type of problem. The kit includes everything you need in the TrackTech Head Stud Kit and the Head Gasket Kit.

The head studs and head gasket are rated to be much stronger and more durable than the factory parts. As head gasket failure is extremely common on LLY Duramax engines, this is a good proactive upgrade.

Head Studs Kit for 2001-2016 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LB7 LLY LBZ LMM LML

This head stud kit fits several Duramax models, including the 2001-2004 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LB7, 2004.5-2007 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LLY LBZ, 2007.5-2010 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LMM, and the 2011-2016 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LML. The kit includes cylinder head studs, cylinder head bolts, cylinder head stud nuts, and cylinder head stud washers for a full replacement job.

Cylinder Head Gasket Set With Head Studs 2011-2016 Chevrolet Duramax 6.6L LML

The LML Duramax engine is also prone to head gasket failure, so the TrackTech kit is a good investment to proactively replace everything. It includes all the cylinder head studs, head bolts, head stud nuts, and head stud washers, plus Grade C head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, various component gaskets, valve stem seals, and o-rings for a complete top-end rebuild.

GT3788VA Turbo Rebuild Kit with Billet Turbine Shaft Gasket for 04.5-05 LLY Duramax

One of the many problems plaguing the LLY Duramax is turbo failure. The Spoologic kit is designed to completely rebuild your LLY Duramax turbo with standards that exceed OEM quality.

The kit includes everything you need to rebuild your turbo and get even more performance, whether your truck is a daily driver, a tuned rig, or a drag racer. You can expect corrected boost limits, improved performance, reduced smoke, and the elimination of compressor surge with your new turbo.

VGT Solenoid For 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstroke 04-16 6.6L Duramax

A new VGT solenoid can help you get the most out of your turbocharger. It can eliminate the lazy response of the OEM part and the lag of upgraded turbos. The new and improved solenoid is designed to enhance low-end torque and boost overall performance.

6.6L Duramax Turbo Vane Position Sensor & Socket 2004 Thru 2015 LLY LBZ LMM LML

If you get a P003A error code on your turbo, you might think it’s time to rebuild your turbo. But, in fact, it might be the vane position sensor that needs to be replaced instead. The P003A code stands for Turbocharger Boost Control A Position Exceeded.

This means that the actual turbo vane position and desired turbo vane position don’t match. A new vane position sensor can solve this problem.

It’s important to note that many of the problem parts on these engines should be proactively replaced before they fail. You can rely on ProSource Diesel for quality Duramax replacement parts as well as Duramax aftermarket parts for repairs or upgrades.
